As can be seen from the images, many materials are recycled at the source with large containers at different points of our campus and special recycling boxes located on almost every floor of our units such as faculties and colleges. Materials recycled at source are cardboard, paper, plastic, glass, batteries, metals, masks, gloves, and various organic wastes. In addition, safe collection sheds for toxic and medical wastes were built in faculties such as medicine, science, and engineering, where chemical and medical materials are used. Collected toxic chemicals are sent to Izmit Waste and Residues Treatment (IZAYDAS), Incineration and Evaluation company at regular intervals and destroyed in their environmentally friendly forms. In addition, the branches obtained as a result of pruning the existing green areas in our campus, the cut grass and the leaves collected in the autumn are recycled with different methods, and especially the grass and leaves are fed to the barn animals in the farms of our agriculture faculty and no organic waste is generated. A large-volume compost machine is available to convert food waste from the cafeterias on campus and branch residues resulting from seasonal pruning into composted manure.
