Purpose: During the four years of education, Department of Urdu Language and Literature aims at educating students on Urdu Language and Literature, Indian history, culture, grammar, conversation, translation, literary knowledge, Classical and Modern texts besides this program teaches students lessons of Hindi, Dewanagari, Studies on Allama Muhammad Iqbak. The princpially aim of this program is to equip students with knowledge and s that provides working in the university,public and private sectors and research and training center. 

Vision: The biggest aim of Department of Urdu Language and Literature is to educate expert academic staff in their field and students who are knowledgeable and sful. Vision of this program is to educate students who have good knowledge of Urdu language and can read and understand the classic, modern and actual texts, at the same time, pass on the idea of someone else in this language. In this program informs about the famous poets such as Muhammad Iqbak, Asadullah Han Galib, Mir Taki Mir, Hoca Mir Derd, Feyz Ahmed Feyz etc. Urdu Language and Literature teaches courses that are about the history of The Ghaznavids, Gurs, Kutbi, Balabans, Baburs and Urdu history and literature including of XX. century 

Mission: The target of Urdu Language and Literature is to prepare students for career and the academic world. The main aim of this program is to recognize Urdu language, literature and culture and provide learning the this language good enough to be helpful for Turkey. Besides, Urdu Language and Literature aims at bringing resources in the field of language and literature, common historical process.

Program Description: Department of Urdu Language and Literature aims at educating students on Urdu Language and Literature, Indias history, mythology culture, grammar, conversation, translation, literary knowledge, Classical and Modern texts besides this program teaches students lessons of Hindi, Dewanagari, Studies on Iqbak. The princpially aim of this program is to equip students with knowledge and that provides working in the university,public and private sectors and research and training center. 

Admissions Requirements: The students are admitted by an exam which is performed by OSYM (Student Selection and Placement System) 

Recognition of Prior Learning: 

Graduation Requirements: Department of Urdu Language and Literature has no preparation class and offers 4 year of education. A student is to graduate, needs to complete all lectures, probations, tests etc. successfully. Students requires to have at least 2.00 GPA to be graduated. For more information see regulations of Seljuk University, article 22. Students those completed the program successfully are given the licence degree of program. Principles of Assessment and Evaluation: Success of students has been scaled by written or verbal exams, projects and seminars which are given to the students during the term. A student that has got one of the AA, BA, BB, CB or CC marks is will be successfull in that lecture. If a student gets DD or DC in a lecture needs to have at least 2.00 GPA to be successfull.For more information see regulations of Selçuk University, section 3, articles from 9 to 15 

Employment Opportunities: Urdu Language and Literature students who have graduated from the program given the title of Urdu Language and Literature philologist. Part of them while maintaining academic life, some of them can have the opportunity to work the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the institutions of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Directorate General of Security, TRT, the Armed Forces, Intelligence Agency, the State Archives, the Foundation team, writing works in libraries, embassies, consulates, visual and print media organizations operate, the tourism agencies and the private sector.
