FAST ACCESS
Academic Recognition

Students participating in the activity must be full-time students. Students are expected to be sent to follow the program corresponding to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, ECTS) credits for a semester and 60 for a full academic year, in order to carry out the studies required by their diploma/degree abroad. Successful credits in the program followed are given full academic recognition, and failed credits are repeated at the host institution.

WHAT IS ECTS CREDIT?

ECTS credit is the numerical value (between 1 and 60) indicating the student workload required to complete the course units. This value indicates the workload required by each course within the annual academic study in an institution. This workload includes practical studies, seminars, field studies, individual studies, exams, etc. within the scope of the course in an academic year. Within the scope of ECTS credits, there are not only course hours; All work done by students outside of class hours is included in this credit.

“Credit transfer is the key to successful study mobility. Institutions, faculties, departments may make agreements which guarantee automatic recognition and transfer of credits.” (ECTS Users' Guide-2015)

In ECTS, 60 credits for 1 year; 30 credits correspond to one semester's workload. The program expects the workload of the courses taken abroad to match the student and the institution.

The higher education institution is obliged to provide full recognition to the study period spent abroad. For this reason, it is necessary to check the suitability of the course content of the partner institutions, to ensure the equivalence of the period to be spent abroad and, accordingly, to be recognized.

It is not appropriate to carry out learning mobility within the scope of research studies that are not necessary for the student to complete their education or activities that cannot be recognized.

“An open and flexible approach to the recognition of credits obtained in another context, including learning mobility, is therefore recommended, based on compatibility of learning outcomes rather than equivalence of course contents.” (ECTS Users' Guide-2015)
