The "World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024" list of the UK-based higher education rating agency Quacquarelli Symond (QS) has been published. Selçuk University, which is an example in many areas such as its scientific projects, technical and physical infrastructure, and social opportunities offered to students, once again proved its success by ranking 14th in Turkey.
1,401 universities from around the world were ranked in QS Sustainability 2024. In the QS Sustainability 2024 world rankings, held for the second time this year, Selçuk University managed to rank 14th among the 24 universities included in the ranking in Turkey. While Selçuk University was ranked in the 961-980 band in the QS Sustainability 2024 world universities ranking, it ranked 404th in the world in Environmental Sustainability.
In 2024, QS World University Rankings created a new assessment under the heading “Sustainability” to provide a framework showing how universities are taking action to overcome environmental, social and governance (ESG) challenges, within the scope of changes to the data collection system. QS aimed to unlock the potential of universities to advance sustainable development through research, teaching and community engagement.
There are two categories in the QS Sustainability ranking: Environmental Impact and Social Impact. Universities can be ranked separately in each, both, and overall of these categories. While each performance category consists of separate indicators, these are then summed to create a weight for each category.
