Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy participated in the panel where the results of the "Turkey Seljuks Konya Dynasty Tomb of the Tombs Project" carried out by Konya Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism were evaluated and the results were shared.

Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said that Konya is an important city of history, science and art in Turkey, which was the capital of the Seljuk Empire of Turkey. Stating that the Seljuks of Turkey were successful in the Turkification and Islamisation of Anatolia thanks to their just and tolerant governance, military success, the importance they attached to trade and economy, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, "Our university, which continues the name and scientific heritage of the Seljuks, is one of the most productive higher education institutions of our country with its education life, rich academic staff and deep-rooted scientific tradition since 1908. In this context, we carry out important activities in social responsibility projects as well as scientific, artistic and cultural projects. We have made the necessary initiatives to make our Seljuk Studies Centre, which was established in 1985 within our university, an institute since the first day we took office, and these initiatives have been concluded with the signature of our President and our Centre has finally gained the status of 'institute'. From now on, main branches of science will be established within the Institute and young people with a solid background in this field will be trained. Within this framework, our Institute has been involved in many projects and made publications. It will continue to do so in the future.  At the same time, it has also taken part in the 'Turkey Seljuks Konya Dynasty Tomb of the Tombs of the Turkish Seljuks (2017-2023)' project, in which we will now hold the final panel and open the exhibition, and provided all kinds of scientific support. With this project, the bodies of the Seljuk Sultans who made Anatolia a homeland for us, which were scattered as a result of years of destruction, were collected again, and their souls were ensured to sleep comfortably. This has been an occasion of pride for us. Therefore, I would like to thank the institutions supporting this project and those who contributed to the realisation of the project."

Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nadir Alpaslan stated that Turks built a great civilisation in Anatolia and in this context one of the greatest empires of the world was established. Alpaslan stated that an exemplary and just empire was created for the world and said, "I wish God's mercy to our ancestors by underlining how much we need this in the world we live in today. It is a very important project in terms of respect for our history and ancestors." Stating that an important scientific and historical study was carried out, Alpaslan added that the project was also followed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.

After the opening speeches, the panel, chaired by Dr. Naci Bakırcı, Member of the Scientific Committee of the Project and Director of Mevlana Museum, proceeded to the panel where the results of the Turkey Seljuks Konya Dynasty Tombs' Arrangement Project were evaluated and the results were shared.
