ORPHEUS (European System for Doctoral Programs in Biomedicine and Health Sciences) officials made a field visit to Selçuk University. The visit was completed efficiently with various presentations, laboratory examinations and academic meetings.

ORPHEUS (European System for Doctoral Programs in Biomedicine and Health Sciences) officials, who aim to develop and disseminate basic standards and best practices in doctoral education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences, to raise the standards of competencies that graduates of doctoral programs will have and to ensure international recognition of diplomas, made a series of visits to Selçuk University.

As part of the visit, ORPHEUS Ambassador to Turkey Prof. Dr. Gül Güner, Prof. Dr. Joanna Almedia Palha from the University of Minho and Dr. Janet Carton from University College Dublin held a series of meetings and inspections at Selçuk University.

The program began with the ORPHEUS team visiting Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Yılmaz in his office. Afterwards, Health Sciences Institute Director Prof. Dr. Fatma Hümeyra Yerlikaya Aydemir, Institute Deputy Director Prof. Dr. Esma Menevşe, Quality Coordination, İLTEK, TEKNOKENT, ARDEK, SÜDAM, Simulation Center and student representative made field introduction presentations.

In addition, the Veterinary Faculty Animal Hospital, Vaccine Development Research and Application Center and Medical Faculty Medical Biochemistry Laboratories were visited on site as part of the visit and detailed information was provided to the ORPHEUS team about the contributions of these units to doctoral education.

In the last part of the program, separate face-to-face meetings were held with Department Heads, advisor faculty members and doctoral students. Prof. Dr. Fatma Hümeyra Yerlikaya Aydemir stated that the internal evaluation studies continued after the highly productive ORPHEUS field visit and that important developments were made in terms of the international recognition of Health Sciences Institute doctoral education.
