257 PAPERS WERE PRESENTED The 12th meeting of ASOS, one of the most widely attended law symposiums held in our country, was held online, hosted by the Selçuk University Faculty of Law. The meeting, which was held with wide participation between May 13-15, 2026, brought together academics and jurists from different institutions and cities around a common scientific purpose.

303 APPLICATIONS WERE SUBMITTED At the symposium, where 303 applications were submitted, 257 papers were accepted. Presenters from 88 institutions, 76 of which were universities from all around Turkey, delivered their presentations. Five foreign presenters, four of whom were keynote speakers, made presentations.

Delivering the opening speech of the meeting, Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Haldun Soydal stated, "Today, law is far from being a static set of rules tied purely to texts; it is a highly dynamic structure that is constantly evolving and must rapidly adapt to social and global changes. In this period, where rapid transformations in every aspect of life, new legal disputes, and cross-border relations have become an inseparable part of our daily lives, the duties and responsibilities falling upon the legal community are heavier than ever. Legal systems must move away from being merely a mechanism that seeks solutions after disputes arise, and instead adopt a proactive nature that anticipates developments and draws solid theoretical frameworks for them."

A RECORD NUMBER OF PAPERS WERE PRESENTED Taking the floor at the opening, Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Berrin Akbulut said, "Within the scope of the ASOS International Law Congress, the twelfth of which we organized through Selçuk University this year, current issues in many different fields such as human rights, international law, civil law, criminal law, artificial intelligence, and IT law are being discussed. This year, a record number of papers were submitted and a record number of papers were presented in the 12-year history of ASOS. For this reason, we extended the congress, which we had planned for two days, to three days. Our congress will last for 3 days in 4 synchronized halls. I believe that the advancement of scientific studies is possible through an environment of free thought, a critical approach, and academic solidarity.
