Constitutional Court Member Selahaddin Menteş Visits Our Faculty
Selahaddin Menteş, Member of the Constitutional Court of Türkiye and former Deputy Minister of Justice, met with students at Selçuk University. Menteş shared valuable insights on judicial processes and the professions of judges and prosecutors.
A talk titled “The Compatibility of the Case Law of the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court – Judge and Prosecutor Interviews” was organized by the Faculty of Law and the Law and Career Society. The event, held at the Faculty of Law Conference Hall, was attended by President of the Konya Regional Court of Appeal Mevlüt Gülbudak, Chief Public Prosecutor of the Konya Regional Court of Appeal Abdullah Gündüz, Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca, Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Haldun Soydal, Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Berrin Akbulut, academics, and students.
During the event, Selahaddin Menteş stated that members of the Constitutional Court are selected from among members of the Court of Cassation, Council of State, Court of Accounts, academics, and legal professionals. He emphasized the importance of individual applications to the Constitutional Court, noting that every citizen in Türkiye can bring their cases before the Court in accordance with legal procedures, providing an important safeguard for fundamental rights.
