The "Anayasa Candır (Constitution is Vital)" Talk Attracted Interest at Our Faculty
The guest of the talk titled "Constitution is Vital," organized by our Faculty's Dean's Office and the International Law Society, was Prof. Dr. Ayşe Odman Boztosun, a faculty member of Akdeniz University Faculty of Law. Our Dean Prof. Dr. Berrin Akbulut, our Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akçaal, academic staff, and students attended the talk held in our Faculty's Conference Hall.
Stating that universal legal principles have once again been confirmed as the most reliable source to guide us, especially recently when viewed through the window of civilization, which is the common heritage of humanity, Prof. Dr. Boztosun said, "The basic conditions for the sustainability of humanity are provided in an order where freedoms are fundamental, individuals are not discriminated against, and an independent and functional judiciary can operate. All contemporary constitutions around the world embody these principles. The fact that these principles have turned into rules and formed the essence of the constitutions of nation-states is a source of hope for humanity. Implementing the order based on the rule of law designed by constitutions is not easy. Cultural resistances, in particular, pose difficulties. To achieve success, the awareness of the constitutional order's structure in society must be increased. This awareness should be integrated with the commitment and love for national unity, justice, and peace."
