As part of the 2026–2027 Academic Year Orientation and Activity Program, held between 14 and 18 September 2026, Selçuk University Faculty of Law aimed to introduce students to the Faculty’s long-established tradition, help them explore the Faculty and campus, and encourage them to engage with student societies.

The program began with the opening lecture for the 2026–2027 Academic Year. Prior to the opening program, lokma was served in memory of the late Prof. Dr. Halil Cin, one of Selçuk University’s former rectors, a distinguished scholar in the field of legal history, and a highly valued academic who made significant contributions to both our University and Faculty.

The program commenced with the opening remarks of our Dean, Prof. Dr. Berrin Akbulut. This was followed by a speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Ülker, who spoke about the history of our Faculty and the academic legacy of Prof. Dr. Halil Cin. The program concluded with the opening lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Ümit Süleyman Üstün. In this way, our newly enrolled law students and academic staff came together for the first event of the new academic year.

The second event of the orientation program was a tour of Konya organized for students newly admitted to our Faculty. During the tour, our students had the opportunity to visit Konya’s historical and tourist attractions and become more familiar with the city.

As part of the orientation week, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akçaal also delivered a comprehensive presentation on the structure of our Faculty, its administrative and academic functioning, and its education and teaching processes. Student societies operating within our Faculty also organized various introductory and orientation activities, bringing together newly enrolled students and providing them with opportunities to become acquainted with student life.

With the completion of these activities, the orientation process and the first week of the academic term came to an end. We congratulate all first-year students who have joined our Faculty and wish them every success throughout their education.

We respectfully commemorate the late Prof. Dr. Halil Cin with gratitude and remembrance for his valuable contributions to our University and Faculty, and we wish all members of our academic community a successful academic year.
