The 5th Islamic Solidarity Games, held in Konya between 9 - 18 August 2022, ended with the closing ceremony held at Selcuk University at 15th July Stadium. The interest of sports fans in the program, in which Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy also participated, was quite high.

4,200 Sportmen and sportwomen from 56 countries in 24 branches participated in the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, hosted by Turkey. National athletes in the organization; broke the games record by winning 341 medals in total including 145 gold, 107 silver and 89 bronze. Turkey was followed by Uzbekistan with 158 medals and Iran with 133 medals.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Faisal, President of the International Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF), and Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan, AK Party Konya Deputy Hacı Ahmet Özdemir, Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Halis Yunus Ersöz, Sports Services General Manager Mehmet Baykan, Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, the official delegation of many countries, citizens and athletes participated.

The ceremony started with the hoisting of the Turkish flag accompanied by the National Anthem. Later, the athletes of the countries participating in the games greeted the stadium by participating in the procession. After the protocol speeches, Minister Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu handed over the flag of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation to Prince al-Faisal. The closing ceremony ended with the concert of the singer Kubat after the light and fireworks shows.
