6th Thematic Winter Camps started in Konya

Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy attended the opening program of the 6th Thematic Winter Camps organized by the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories (KYGM).

Within the scope of the camp organized with the theme of "Volunteering Camp", approximately 150 students from 60 provinces will come together with people of science, culture, sports and arts of Turkey. The students will also have the opportunity to see the historical and cultural sites of Konya.

Governor of Konya Vahdettin Özkan, at the opening of the program held in the conference hall of KYGM Şemsi Tebrizi Student Dormitory, stated that he was happy to come together with students from 60 provinces and said, "It is a great gain for both themselves, our cities and our country that our young people meet and solidarity with each other through such opportunities. While our young people gain experience through these camps, they have the advantage of meeting each other, learning from each other, and transferring what they know and the beauties of their cities. You came to Konya today. Of course, it is important and meaningful to know Konya. At the same time, we contribute to the construction of a civilization in this pool of acquaintance created by bringing the features and beauties from various parts of Anatolia, from our 60 provinces to Konya. I wish it to be a productive program for both you and our city."

"YOU WILL GET TO KNOW A NEW CITY"

AK Party Konya MP Selman Özboyacı said that Konya ranks first in terms of dormitory capacity under the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories.  Özboyacı stated that volunteering is a valuable term and said, "You will get something for yourself with different experience sharing for 5 days in Konya. You will get to know a new city. I think this is a great vision and horizon for you. The more you travel, the more. Because you will understand which moral groups and which cultural groups make up the society of Turkey. You don't know each other here, but I hope you will get to know each other during the 5 days. You will make friends from all over Turkey. This is a great opportunity. I congratulate you for participating in such camps and organizations."

"I CONGRATULATE AND CONGRATULATE OUR YOUNG PEOPLE"

Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy stated that the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories carried out a visionary work with the "Winter Camps". Explaining that the camp program is the clearest indication that education continues in a different dimension, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, "Universities are educational institutions for the upbringing of young people, but in addition to this, such projects that universities have put forward with the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories in order to create various awareness gain a special importance. In this sense, I would like to thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports. We see that our camp is based on 'volunteering'. Of course, we are going through a process in the modern era and in a period in which materialistic issues are very much measured. I congratulate and congratulate our young people for putting their hands under the stone and coming together at the point of volunteering at a time when people are not very willing to volunteer in times when people tend towards consumption culture with globalization. In these winter conditions, you have been sensitive to the issue of volunteering and came to Konya from different provinces. I thank you for your participation."

Konya Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Abdurrahman Şahin stated that the 6th Thematic Winter Camps will be organized in 10 different themes in 10 provinces.

After the opening speeches, a sema performance and ney recital were performed by the Konya Turkish Sufi Music Ensemble of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Kamil Beşoluk, academic staff, representatives of the General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories and students attended the program. Winter Camps will end on February 4.
