Kindergarten students visited Dr. İsmail Işık Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center

Selcuk University Faculty of Health Sciences Nasreddin Hodja Application Kindergarten students visited Dr. İsmail Işık Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center within the scope of the event "Our Saplings under 100 Years of Trees" organized within the scope of 100 Events in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic.

Prof. Dr. Emine Arslan, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, said in her speech that the elderly serve as a bridge between the past and the present of life and guide us with their experiences. Stating that they organized the visit to express respect and love, Arslan said, "Such visits are of great importance in order to instill in our children a sense of sensitivity towards the elders of the family, who are the crown of our heads. I wish you to have a pleasant time playing games with our students today. I would like to thank the management and staff of Dr. İsmail Işık Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center for opening their doors to us, and I would like to thank you for your participation and the Rectorate of Selçuk University for always supporting us."

Prof. Dr. Serap Daşbaş, Head of the Gerontology Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences, stated that gerontology is a branch of science that aims to improve the quality of life of individuals in old age and examines elderly individuals in all aspects, including social and psychology. Explaining that the increase in the elderly population both in the world and in Turkey reveals the necessity of multidisciplinary studies for elderly individuals, Daşbaş said, "As Selçuk University Faculty of Health Sciences Gerontology Department, we aim to train gerontologists who will take part in improving the quality of life of elderly individuals by supporting them in physical, emotional and social areas."
