Nursing Week 12-18 May is celebrated with various activities at Selcuk University Faculty of Nursing. Within the scope of the events, mind games, music, sports and scientific activities will be organized.

Selcuk University Faculty of Nursing Deputy Deans Prof. Dr. Fatma Tas Arslan, Prof. Dr. Kemal Kismet, Head of Nursing Department Assoc. Dr. Sibel Küçükoğlu, lecturers and students attended.

Scientific and Social Events Organizing Committee Chairman Dr. Instructor Member Halime Esra Meram said in a statement that the week that includes the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is considered to be the founder of modern nursing, has been celebrated as “Nursing Week” since 1964. Expressing that the week is an indicator of the importance given to nursing and health, Meram stated that on the first day of the celebrations, which will continue for 2 days, they will perform mind games, solo music and sports activities. Meram, who stated that on the second day of the activities, they will meet with the students at the breakfast program in Kanyon Park, she said, “We are organizing a webinar that will be held online after the breakfast event. The theme of our event, which will start at 14.00, is on the theme of "Nurses: A pioneering voice - Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure global health", determined by the International Council of Nurses ICN for the year 2022. In this theme, set for the 2022 International Day of Nurses, the Council focuses on the need to protect, support and invest in the nursing profession to strengthen health systems around the world. Since this issue is of great importance for nurses, who make up a large part of healthcare professionals, we wanted to discuss and examine the issue, especially with a scientific program, and create a common language. Thus, we aim to provide our participants and students with an overview of the universal position and status of our profession. We celebrate the 12-18 May Nursing Week to all our nurses, who work with patience, devotion and care, touch life with the continuous care they provide, feel with their hearts and give life with their knowledge, who are valuable members of the healthcare team, and our dear students, who we already see as our colleagues."

Şeyma Ilgın Kaya, a 4th year student at the Nursing Department, said, “Today is Nursing Day. We studied at the faculty for 4 years, but we could not interact that much due to the pandemic. We would like to thank our teachers for organizing the events. We are in our last nursing days as a student. We are very happy to celebrate in this way.”

Hasan Apaydın, 4th grade student of the Nursing Department, stated that they came together in a nice event and that it was a different event for them.
