There was a graduation celebration at Selçuk University, Faculty of Letters, Department of English Language and Literature. 21 students, who successfully completed their 4-year education, received their diplomas at the ceremony.

The graduation ceremony of Selçuk University Faculty of Letters, Department of English Language and Literature for the 2020-2021 academic year was held in front of the Keykubad Mansion in Alaeddin Keykubat Campus. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Gökhan Arslantürk, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Literature, academicians, students and their families.

                        "TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE SPECIFIC RULES OF YOUR FIELDS"

Prof. Gökhan Arslantürk, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Letters, stated in his speech: "There is a sentence that we often hear in many fields of social sciences: Man is a social being. Our young people studying and graduating from the departments of our faculty are perhaps among those who understand the meaning of this both in theory and in practice. At a time when we spend our lives under extraordinary conditions, the strong desire of our students to come together again with their schools, teachers and friends has led us to meet with you. We have realized and felt more deeply how precious it is to share our joys and sorrows by coming together as we did today, even under cautious conditions. We have understood the importance of man for the human being. For 4 years, we have tried to share the importance of learning the knowledge produced, striving to reach knowledge, and appreciating the value necessary to learn science. What we want from you, our students, is to continue both your professional life and your personal life with an ethical sensitivity, taking into account the unique rules of your fields."

                          ‘’NEVER GIVE UP THE EFFORT TO FIND THE TRUTH"

Stating that Selçuk University is one of the largest universities in Turkey, Prof. Dr. Arif Sarıçoban, Head of the Department of English Language and Literature, said: "The Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Letters was established as one of the first four departments of Selçuk University. It continues on its way with the excitement of the first day it was founded. Our students have used the time and opportunities very well for their goals and are ready for the future. Therefore, the families do not need to worry about their children. Never be afraid of life and the difficulties you will face, never give up. I am sure that you will overcome all the difficulties you will face with the care, love and support of your family, the skills equipped by your teachers and the mutual love, respect and tolerance you develop with your friends from different segments of society. Being a good and successful person is a privilege and requires effort. Strive for it, never stop working and never give up trying to find the truth. Realize that you are equal with people who do not think like you, and accept differences as they are. Carry your identity as a graduate of Selçuk University with honor for a bright future on the path of modern civilization based on reason and science as shown by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk."

After the speech of Seda Könülşök, the valedictorian of the semester, the ceremony ended with a cap throwing ceremony.
