Tiny hands prepared local bread in the Gastronomy Kitchen
Selcuk Kindergarten students prepared Konya's local meat bread as part of the "Tiny Hands Baking Their Own Bread" event organized by the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Faculty of Tourism, Selçuk University. Students of Nasreddin Hodja Application Kindergarten affiliated to Selçuk University Faculty of Health Sciences also exhibited their skills in the traditional bread making process in the "Cook Your Own, Eat Your Own" learning-by-living activity.
21 students from Seljuk Kindergarten participated in the event held in the Kitchen of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts with the participation of Head of Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Birsen Bulut Solak, Chef Lecturer Dr. Osman Özer, Assistant Professor Gülçin Algan Özkök, primary school teacher Sevgi Alparslan Tosun, graduate and undergraduate students exhibited their skills. In the event, the young students made an effort to learn every stage of the preparation of buttermilk and bread as well as meat bread.
NASREDDİN HOCA APPLICATION KINDERGARTEN MADE TRADITIONAL BREAD
In another event organized in the kitchen of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, 13 students from Nasreddin Hodja Application Kindergarten affiliated to Selçuk University Faculty of Health Sciences had the opportunity to learn all stages of traditional bread making in practice.
At the event, Head of Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Birsen Bulut Solak, Chef Lecturer Dr. Osman Özer, primary school teacher Gülçin Algan Özkök, Nasreddin Hodja Application Kindergarten Director Türkan Yiğit Kolçak, primary school teacher Elife Avşar Özus, Neslihan Kolçak showed their skills under the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students. Selçuk District Police Chief Ersan Aydın also accompanied the event.
Selçuk University Faculty of Tourism Dean Prof. Dr. Onur Köksal said that they organized the events within the scope of Turkish Cuisine Week under the leadership of the faculty members of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. In this context, Prof. Dr. Köksal stated that they came together with kindergarten students in the "Tiny Hands, Baking Their Own Bread" and "Cook Your Own, Eat Your Own" learning-by-living activity and said, "Our little students prepared the local and national dish of Konya, meat bread, in our kitchen along with traditional bread making. They exhibited their skills under the leadership of our chef Osman Hoca and our teachers. They baked their own bread and meat bread. We would like to thank Konya Provincial Directorate of National Education, Nasreddin Hodja Application Kindergarten Directorate, Selçuklu Anadolu Directorate and our Head of Department for organizing the event."
Prof. Dr. Köksal stated that they aim to introduce the kitchen they have established in the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts not only to the University but also to Konya and added that their doors are open to all schools under the roof of National Education in this direction.
