Organized by 32 teachers from Turkey and abroad, Selçuk University (SU) and Konya Provincial Directorate of National Education (MEM), with the project partnership of Turkey and 3 European Union (EU) member countries (Italy, Spain, Czech Republic) and England, they came together as part of the “Financial Literacy in Adult Education” project. Project training is given to teachers on 19 modules and artificial intelligence-based android applications.

The project, which is carried out under the project coordination of Selçuk University Faculty of Technology and Beyşehir Ali Akkanat Faculty of Business Administration and will end in June 2023, is the project of Konya Provincial Directorate of National Education, Lifelong Development Association, Euphoria Net Srl (Italy-SME in the field of education), Eurospeak Language Schools Ltd (England). -SME in the field of education), Masarykova University (Czech Republic), Asociaacion Valencia Inno Hub (Spain-association in the field of education) in partnership.

With the project financed by the Turkish National Agency of the Center for European Union Education and Youth Programs, it is aimed to use the Artificial Intelligence Based Android Application (in 5 languages), which offers investment tool advice for ordinary users and new business owners to manage their budget, turn to savings and evaluate their savings.

“I WISH SUCH PROJECTS CONTINUE TO INCREASE”

Speaking at the project training meeting, Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken said that such training programs organized at the international level are very important for countries to transfer their knowledge in the field of financial education to each other and to share their experiences. Expressing that he believes that the outputs to be presented within the scope of the project will be beneficial to all humanity, Prof. Dr. Eken said, “Especially from these outputs, important shares will be provided in terms of budget management, encouraging savings, and how to evaluate savings. One of the most important sources of high and sustainable growth for national economies all over the world is savings. Saving mediates creating a good standard of living in the future. Another important point is that in emergency and unexpected situations, the savings are spent and they prevent economic difficulties. We have seen how important saving is during the pandemic period. Again, possible work accidents and other accidents bring savings to the fore. It is a fact that savings directly contribute to the country's economy. In this context, how and in what way the savings can be evaluated will be determined by scientists like you and stakeholders. Such projects also have a significant share in increasing the interaction and communication between countries, both in terms of education and financial issues. Therefore, I hope that such projects will increasingly continue.” Prof. Dr. Eken thanked the stakeholders who contributed and supported the organization of the project.

“BUSINESSES CAN TAKE THEIR OWN X-RAYS”

Project Coordinator, Selcuk University Faculty of Technology Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Kemal Tütüncü also stated that they came together at the training meeting of the Financial Literacy in Adult Education Project presented to the Erasmus+ Programme. Stating that 16 teachers from England, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic and 16 teachers from Konya participated in the training, Assoc. Dr. Tütüncü continued as follows: “Today, we have 32 teachers working in the field of finance trained for 19 modules that we have developed within the scope of our Erasmus+ Project, and we will make improvements on the modules with our stakeholders, with the feedback we will receive from the teachers. Our project has three main outputs. One is the modules we produce and their submission to the distance education platform. The second is about realizing this training through our current platform. In our third output, both ordinary users and entrepreneurs will be able to manage their budget. We have also developed an application in this context so that businesses can take their own x-rays and manage their businesses. The application we have developed will make recommendations to the user according to the parameters received from the entrepreneur. Our other android app will also provide budget management for the casual user.”

Assoc. Dr. Tütüncü stated that they trust the modules they have developed and noted that they will publish the modules, which are currently in English, translated into the language of the stakeholders and into Turkish, to the whole world through social media and other channels. Explaining that he believes that the modules will contribute to the solution of the financial literacy problem, which is the common problem of the world, Tütüncü stated that an introductory meeting with broad participation is planned in May 2023 with the stakeholders of the sector.
