Selcuk University (SU) Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy attended the opening ceremony of the 9th Konya Science Festival organized by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Science Center.

In the festival, stands opened by important defense industry and science-technology organizations such as ASELSAN, BAYKAR, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, TUSAŞ, TÜBİTAK and Selçuk University began to host their visitors. Within the scope of the festival, there are video mapping and light shows, drone show, thematic workshop areas, entertaining stage shows, three-dimensional halls under the themes of "NASA&CERN" and "Source of Life", and many exhibitions with different themes.

Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Governor of Konya Vahdettin Özkan, AK Party Deputy Chairman and Konya Deputy Dr. Leyla Şahin Usta, AK Party Deputy Chairman, Information and Communication Technologies President Dr. Ömer İleri, AK Party Konya Deputy Selman Özboyacı, 26th Term AK Party Konya Deputy Dr. Hüsnüye Erdoğan, Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay, President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, TSE President Mahmut Sami Şahin, Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca, Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş, Selçuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyatımcı and other protocol members attended.

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank stated in his speech that the economic independence of a country is equivalent to technological independence. Stating that countries with value-added production and innovative ecosystems have a say in the international arena, Varank said that they strive to be a country that directs technology, not follows technology. Varank added that the Konya Science Festival has a critical importance for the socialization of science and technology in the city.

After the protocol speeches, the 9th Konya Science Festival was opened. Afterwards, the members of the protocol toured the stands set up in the area.

RECTOR AKSOY VISITED SELÇUK UNIVERSITY STAND

Selcuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy visited the Selçuk University stand, which was opened by Beyşehir Ali Akkanat School of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Science, Advanced Technology Research and Application Center, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Technology. Having learned about the work of the units, Prof. Dr. Aksoy also held a T-shirt design event at the stand.

Expecting more than 250 thousand visitors, the festival can be visited between 16.00 - 23.00 until 26 June.
