Selcuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy attended the Konya 2021, 5th Islamic Solidarity Games Preparation and Organizing Board Meeting, organized with the attendance of Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu.

It was reported that the Konya 5th Islamic Solidarity Games will be held in 24 branches, including 19 sports, one traditional show and 4 para sports branches.

Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu said that, as Turkey, they are happy and excited to raise the bar of success in sports.

Stating that one of Turkey's strong areas is sports tourism, Minister Kasapoğlu reminded that Konya will host the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games between 9-18 August.

Minister Kasapoğlu said, “We continue all the preparations together. We will hold games in 24 different branches, including 19 sports, one traditional show and 4 para sports branches. We take all the necessary steps together, from the games village to transportation, from security to IT infrastructure. "Together, we will organize a perfect organization that suits not only Konya but also the Islamic world," he said.

Minister Kasapoğlu added that Turkey's first Olympic velodrome was held in Konya and will be completed in May, and that the Olympic swimming pool and athletics track are ready for service.

Konya 5th Islamic Solidarity Games Preparation and Organization Board Meeting was attended by Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan, AK Party Konya Deputies Ziya Altunyaldız, Orhan Erdem, Ahmet Sorgun, Leyla Şahin Usta, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Sports Services General Manager Mehmet Baykan, Turkish National Olympic Committee President Uğur Erdener and other protocol members attended.
