Selçuk University (SU) Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy visited the teams and students of Selçuk University Faculty of Technology, who are preparing for the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival (TEKNOFEST) to be held in Istanbul on September 21-26, 2021, accompanied by their academic advisors.

During the visit, Selçuk University Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tuğrul Polat, Dean of the Faculty of Technology Prof. Dr. Şakir Taşdemir, Teknofest Corporate Representative Prof. Dr. İsmail Sarıtaş, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Technology Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Engin Özçelik and the academic advisors of the teams were present.

Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy and the management accompanying him, within the scope of the visit, got information about the ongoing work of teams in different categories: "Capsule Selçuk IEEE Team" in the TEKNOFEST Unmanned Underwater Systems Competition, "Selçuk Electromobile Team" in the International Efficiency Challenge Electric Vehicle Races, "Target Team" in the Robotaxi-Passenger Autonomous Vehicle Competition, “Slat-Falcon Team” and “Anatolian Eagles Team” in the International Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Competition, “Hangar Try and Build Team” in the Educational Technologies Competition, “Target Rocket Team” and “Hangar Rocket Team” in the medium altitude category of the Rocket Competition.

Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said that Turkey needs young minds for its future. Prof. Dr. Aksoy expressed his belief that the country will reach a higher level with the efforts and efforts of young people and said that as the university administration, they always stand by the student teams.

Prof. Dr. Aksoy stated that they made the visit to ensure the motivation of the students and said, "We see giving self-confidence to our students above everything else. It is more important to us than any success. Although there is no success, as long as you grow up well and graduate with this self-confidence, you have always a chance to achieve.  The country needs trained minds like you. God bless you on your path, I wish you success. We hope we will catch the future through you and the future will belong to Türkiye."

Explaining that Selçuk University has a certain culture and identity, Prof. Dr. Aksoy added that the university has begun to become a science and research base in many areas, from vaccine studies to TEKNOFEST studies in the region.
