Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy participated in the Nature Walk organized by the Faculty of Science for clean environment awareness in Meramşah Valley in Selçuklu district within the scope of 100 Events in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic.

The event, supported by the Rectorate of Selçuk University and Selçuklu Municipality with the slogan "Walk for Nature", started with a nature walk in Meramşah Valley. Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tuğrul Polat, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Semahat Küçükkolbaşı, Director of the Vocational School of Health Services Prof. Dr. Gülşin Arslan, faculty members, students and members of the Selçuklu Youth Council participated in the walk.

Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said that they are happy to see students taking part in such volunteering projects. Stating that they continue to organize similar events as a university, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, "I wish you success in your new academic year. I would like to thank those who contributed to the organization of the event. I wish it to be a productive program."

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tuğrul Polat stated that nature contributes positively to human psychology. In this context, Prof. Dr. Polat noted that the walking paths and parks on the campus are at the disposal of the students and said, "It is of particular importance that the event is an event that shows sensitivity to environmental cleanliness. Thank you very much for your participation."

Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Semahat Küçükkolbaşı stated that they organized the event in line with the sustainability policy of Selçuk University in order to protect nature and the environment and to balance the ecological system. Prof. Dr. Küçükkolbaşı added that the Faculty will continue to organize activities related to nature and environmental awareness.

STUDENTS COLLECT GARBAGE IN MALAS POND TO RAISE AWARENESS

In the second part of the event, students and faculty members collected garbage on the shores of Malas Pond in Selçuklu district in order to raise awareness about environmental cleanliness.

In order to contribute to the ecosystem of the pond, approximately 100 volunteers consisting of students and academics separated glass, plastic, paper - cardboard and other wastes visible in the area and collected them in garbage bags. The bags were brought together in certain areas and then loaded onto garbage trucks.
