Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İlhan Çiftci attended the UNİKOP-TUBITAK Evaluation Meeting on "Evaluation of TÜBİTAK Focused Processes within the Scope of the Needs and Priorities of Our Country".

 

The meeting held at Tantavi Culture and Art Center was attended by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, KOP Regional Development Administration President Mahmut Sami Şahin, university rectors and vice-rectors in the KOP Region.

Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TUBITAK, made a presentation titled "Developing and Achieving Together in the R&D and Innovation Ecosystem; Evaluation of TUBITAK-Focused Processes within the Scope of the Needs and Priorities of Our Country". Stating that in the context of UNİKOP universities, in the last 4 years, the number of TÜBİTAK support within the scope of scientists support programs has reached 964, Prof. Dr. Mandal said, "We received a record number of applications from undergraduate students to our STAR Program call, which contributed significantly to the spread of project-based research excitement and project-making studies. 52 students from UNİKOP universities took part in research projects in the 2020 Star Program.  For 2021, a total of 172 applications were made from UNIKOP universities." Prof. Dr. Mandal also made statements about digital transformation in industry and renewable energy-oriented (green transformation) projects.

 

"WE ACHIEVED THE FIRST COMMERCIALIZATION AS SELÇUK TTO"

 

Rector of Selçuk University Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said that Selçuk University is the first and only university in the KOP Region to be among the Research and Candidate Research Universities of the Council of Higher Education. Stating that Selçuk University has 5 projects within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1001 projects recently, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said that they have started to implement environmental projects with the KOP Regional Development Administration. In this sense, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said that they carried out studies on reducing energy consumption, protecting natural life and green energy, and as of this month, they have achieved the first commercialization as Selçuk Technology Transfer Office.

 

Stating that they are preparing for the TÜBİTAK 1004 Project, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, "Konya needs the 1004 project. We are preparing for centers of excellence and we will apply for this project. We expect your support in this regard. Of course, the application for European Union funding sources was made through you. In the scope of including Syrian refugees in the entrepreneurship ecosystem in order to be social, we have applied for a project on their inclusion in the sector. We are making presentations at the commodity exchanges through our Technopolis through the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey on the merger of geothermal technology and industry with agriculture."
