Selçuk University (SU), Konya Teknokent and Değirmenci Otomotiv ve Metal Endüstri AŞ (DOME) signed a "Cooperation Protocol for the Transfer of Qualified Workforce of Selçuk University to Industry".

The protocol aims to commercialize the patent named "Coating Dental and Orthopedic Implant Surfaces with Organic Bioactive Material" developed by Prof. Dr. Ercan Durmuş and Prof. Dr. İlhami Çelik within Konya Teknokent, which is among the 11 projects that are entitled to be supported within the framework of TÜBİTAK 1702 Innovation Support Program in Turkey this year.

Within the scope of the protocol, which aims to strengthen university-industry cooperation in Konya and its region and to make the understanding of growth supported by academic studies based on R&D and innovation prevail, it is aimed to cooperate with DOME in order to provide the qualified workforce needed by the company, to ensure that the company's competitive capabilities are developed with academic knowledge and carried to global markets, to commercialize the knowledge produced at Selçuk University by combining it with the company's capabilities and to contribute to the national economy of Turkey.

Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said that they signed a new project in line with the university-industry cooperation at the protocol ceremony held in the Senate Hall. Stating that Selçuk University is experiencing a historically important day, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, "Selçuk University has never had a project within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1702 Innovation Support Program. We are experiencing a first. In this sense, we are happy and proud. I hope it will be an important turning point. In this context, I would like to congratulate first Konya Teknokent and then our esteemed professors Prof. Dr. İlhami Çelik and Prof. Dr. Ercan Durmuş. This project is among the rare projects and such projects make our professors much more visible. In order to carry out this and similar projects, there needs to be a successful team, academic staff and a visionary strategy. It is very valuable that two professors from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Dentistry come up with a product with their work, Konya Teknokent turns it into a product and brings it together with the industry."

Konya Teknokent Chairman of the Board of Directors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hamurcu stated that Selçuk University and Konya Teknokent have achieved a first within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1702 Innovation Support Program and said, "I wish the continuation of successful works. We have achieved a first as Selçuk University and Konya Teknokent. This year, there are 11 projects that are entitled to be supported within the framework of TÜBİTAK 1702 Innovation Support Program. Among Anatolian universities, only Selçuk University has achieved this success. This is very important in this sense. In terms of the university's score, it is important that the patent turns into commercialization. It needs to be explained, announced and raised awareness a lot. Because these will be an example.
