Rector of Selçuk University Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy visited Konya Martyrdom with the city protocol on the occasion of July 15th Democracy and National Unity Day. Prof. Dr. Aksoy left carnations on the graves of martyrs and prayed.

July 15th Democracy and National Unity Day commemoration events in Konya started with a visit to the martyrdom. Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy also attended the program. Leaving carnations on the graves of martyrs, Prof. Dr. Aksoy prayed for the martyrs who gave their lives for the sake of the homeland. In addition to Governor Vahdettin Özkan, AK Party Deputy Chairman and Konya Deputy Leyla Şahin Usta, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, Provincial Police Chief Engin Dinç, central district mayors, institution managers, political party representatives, military officers and citizens attended the program. In the program, where some families of martyrs were also present, after the recitation of the Holy Quran, Provincial Mufti Ali Öge prayed for the martyrs.

CITY PROTOCOL TOURED THE PAINTING EXHIBITION PREPARED BY SELÇUK UNIVERSITY

July 15th Democracy and National Unity Day commemoration events continued with the Mawlid-i Sharif and Hatm-i Sharif ceremony at Sultan Selim Mosque, the Mevlid Şeker treat, the Bayraklı Bicycle Tour and the visit of the painting exhibition opened by Selçuk University Faculty of Fine Arts in Mevlana Square. The city protocol received information about the exhibition from Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Ahmet Dalkıran and Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. İbrahim Çoban. Stating that the exhibition was prepared with 50 students, Prof. Dr. Dalkıran said, "We opened an exhibition in 3 different areas for July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. There are 27 works here. We also opened it in Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center. The other one was moved to the virtual environment. After the July 15th treacherous coup attempt, we aimed to develop national unity, flag and homeland awareness in our students and to draw attention to the terrorist organization's exploitative activities. As artist academics, one of our duties is to convey such issues to the public. Artists are the most emotionally charged individuals in society. They are the ones who feel pain and joy first. As artists who love their homeland and nation, we are trying to instill this awareness in our students. I would like to thank our Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy for his support."
