Rector of Selçuk University Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy visited Ardahan University. During the visit, the studies carried out within the scope of YÖK Anatolia Project, which acts as a bridge between senior and young universities, were evaluated and it was emphasized that the cooperation will continue to increase in the future.

With the YÖK Anatolia Project, faculty members from 12 senior universities will give lectures to students in various departments of 15 young universities established after 2006 and guide them by advising them in their research areas.

Universities will open their research infrastructures and library facilities to each other. The project will provide important opportunities to young academics at master's and doctoral levels, as well as undergraduate students. Universities' "open science-open access" and distance education opportunities will also facilitate the execution of the project. Young universities were determined as  Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen, Ardahan, Artvin Çoruh, Bartın, Bayburt, Bingöl, Bitlis Eren, Erzincan Binali Yıldırım, Hakkâri, Iğdır, Kilis 7 December, Munzur, Muş Alparslan, Siirt and Şırnak universities; the senior universities were determined as Ankara, Bursa Uludağ, Çukurova, Ege, Erciyes, Gazi, Gebze Teknik, Hacettepe, İstanbul Teknik, İstanbul, Middle East Technical and Selçuk universities. Within the scope of the project, Selçuk University, one of the most established universities in Türkiye, shares its knowledge and experience with Bitlis Eren University and Ardahan University.

 

 “SELÇUK UNIVERSITY CONTINUES ITS RESEARCHER IDENTITY AND ITS TRADITION OF BEING IN THE TOP RANKS”

Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken and Prof. Dr. Together with Ahmet Tuğrul Polat visited Rector of Ardahan University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Biber.

Speaking at the meeting held after the signing of the Higher Education Council Anatolia Project Twinning Protocol and discussing the details of the Higher Education Council Anatolia Project, Rector Prof. Dr. Aksoy said: "Selçuk University, which is one of the experienced universities in Türkiye, is among the top 400 universities in the world in the list of young universities according to the study conducted by Times Higher Education, the world's largest ranking institution based in England. Our university is also in the top 400 in the ranking of Asian universities. Within the scope of the YÖK Anatolia Project, we are in the top 3 among all universities in Türkiye in chemistry and food safety within the framework of the mappings made by taking data from TÜBİTAK. We are in the top 10 in automation. There are departments such as economics and administrative sciences where we are in the top 300 in the world rankings. All these are linked to the research tradition and deep-rooted structure of Selçuk University. Selçuk University has produced many universities from its own structure. It has not left its researcher identity and tradition of ranking high."

 

                             "WE SEE THE YÖK ANATOLIA PROJECT AS A SIGNAL FLARE"

Founded in 1975, Selçuk University provides education to around 78 thousand students and Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, "Selçuk University, which has nearly 3 thousand academic staff and 4 thousand 29 administrative staff, has the identity of a university with its own resources. We have completed the physical structuring. Our aim is to contribute to and encourage scientific studies. We strive to be a debt-free university. Scientific Research Projects (BAP) directive and Selçuk University 'appointment and promotion directive' have been updated. Prof. Dr. Osman Erganiş, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Microbiology and Director of Selçuk University Vaccine Development Application and Implementation Center, and his team continue their inactive vaccine studies by isolating the 'SARS-CoV-2' virus with their project. The trials of the prepared vaccines on experimental animals have been completed and FAZ studies have started. Efforts are underway to start production of the vaccine in 2021. Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Genetics, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nadir Koçak and his team also developed a vaccine project with mRNA properties against Covid-19.  The project has reached the stage of animal experiments and studies are ongoing. Ardahan University is a university we have matched within the scope of the Higher Education Council Anatolia Project. We open all our resources to academics at Ardahan University. With the bridge of hearts, we are using the facilities of Selçuk University to support Ardahan University and Bitlis Eren University.

                           "WE HAVE TAKEN IMPORTANT STEPS IN DIGITALIZATION"

Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken said, "Within the scope of the Higher Education Council of Turkey Anatolia Project twinning protocol, Ardahan University has reached a stage of mutual scientific interaction in the fields of history, western languages and literature, Islamic sciences and Turkish music. Our professors started to give lectures. The academic knowledge at Selçuk University came to the fore. We have taken important steps in digitalization; we have strengthened our infrastructure. This step has made a very serious contribution to the interaction with Ardahan University. This cooperation will continue. Selçuk University is an internationally recognized university in terms of both academic and scientific infrastructure. Currently, our students can get their documents on e-government. We will take steps together for research as well as education. Each of us is a part of a whole. The communication and scientific activities between us will continue to increase."
