Selçuk University, closely following innovations in science and technology, has introduced a robotic surgical system to its Faculty of Medicine Hospital. The first surgery using this robotic surgical system in Konya was performed by Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Yılmaz. He expressed pride in bringing this advanced technology, which provides significant advantages for both physicians and patients, to Selçuk University and Konya.

The globally recognized Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System has been installed at Selçuk University. This robotic surgical device enables complex and minimally invasive surgical procedures to be performed with precision and accuracy. The first surgery using this system was a successful stomach operation conducted by Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Yılmaz, who is a general surgery specialist, and he thanked his team for their efforts.

Prof. Dr. Yılmaz noted that the robotic system offers important advantages for both doctors and patients, and he expressed happiness in introducing this first-of-its-kind device in Konya to the Faculty of Medicine Hospital. He stated, “With the robotic system, one of the most advanced technologies in the world, our surgical procedures have begun. With this advanced robotic device, our physicians will continue to perform more qualified and specialized surgeries across various fields, including general surgery, urology, gynecology, cardiovascular surgery, and pediatric surgery. I would like to thank all academic and administrative staff who contributed to bringing this valuable service to our hospital, especially our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. I hope our device brings healing to our patients.”

Prof. Dr. Yılmaz added that Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Hospital serves over one million patients annually and conducts approximately 78,000 surgeries, making it a health hub not only for Konya but also for the region. He emphasized their commitment to providing the best service to patients by closely following innovations and technologies in the medical field.

Robotic surgery provides advantages such as smaller incisions and minimal scarring for patients, reduced pain and discomfort, faster recovery times, decreased risk of infection, and reduced blood loss. Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Hospital became the first healthcare institution in Konya to utilize the robotic surgical system, which is available in only seven cities across Turkey.
