MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES WERE EXPLAINED AT SELÇUK MEDICINE
Selçuk University (SU) Faculty of Medicine organized "Medical Technologies Medical Innovation Laboratory Opening and Information Meeting" for faculty members and students. At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Ceylan gave information about engineering and artificial intelligence studies in medical technologies with examples.
Prof. Dr. Yavuz Selvi, Dean of Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine, made a speech about the Medical Innovation Laboratory and the functioning of the Scientific Research Projects Coordinatorship of the Faculty of Medicine. Prof. Dr. Selvi said, "We said, 'Let's establish a laboratory that will combine medical and engineering knowledge, enable the production of new devices and enable patents to be obtained. This is a very exciting development for us. We named it the 'Medical Innovation Laboratory'. We are furnishing it and installing its equipment soon. It will work continuously. It is a laboratory where our engineers will come and provide consultancy services."
Coordinator of Scientific Research Projects at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine, Uzm. Zehra Betül Şişman also gave information about the work of the Coordinatorship. Şişman said, "We will hold doctor-engineer meetings every 15 days on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays, like the meeting we held today, we plan to hold general meetings in many areas, from surgical robotic arms to general health, medical and sometimes even materials engineers. On Thursdays, we will invite special specific professors and companies according to the fields and demands of the departments."
Şişman added that the Coordinatorship provides consultancy services for all project processes, including TÜBİTAK projects.
Following the speeches, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Ceylan stated that he has been working on artificial intelligence for about 22 years and gave information about the projects they have carried out in cooperation with SU Faculty of Medicine. Ceylan explained engineering and artificial intelligence studies in medical technologies with examples from Turkey and the world.
Faculty of Medicine Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Nadire Ünver Doğan, faculty members and students attended the meeting.
