Selçuk University Faculty of Science Academic Board Meeting and 2020 Academic Achievement Award Ceremony was held with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy. Stating that 14 million TL has been transferred for scientific research in the last year, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said that they are striving for the reconstruction of a strong Turkey.

Selçuk University Faculty of Science Academic Board Meeting and 2020 Academic Achievement Award Ceremony was held at Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center. Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Kamil Beşoluk, Deputy Secretary General Hikmet Özdemir, Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. Semahat Küçükkolbaşı and academicians attended the ceremony.

"OUR GOAL IS TO EMPHASIZE SCIENTIFIC STUDIES"

Delivering the opening speech of the ceremony, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Semahat Küçükkolbaşı said, "The Biology, Physics, Statistics, Chemistry and Mathematics Departments in our faculty have successfully completed the FEDEK Accreditation process and have been accredited for 3 years from 2020 (until September 30, 2023). Our goal is to focus on scientific studies and projects with our unity and solidarity, to transition to the digital era and to use online databases, to increase the recognition of our faculty and the number of students, to organize online-face-to-face seminars and interviews, to carry out joint projects with the science center, and to create volunteer-based activities."

"WE NEED TO MAKE THE BEST USE OF OUR TIME"

Stating that they are proud of the academic studies carried out in the Faculty of Science, Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said, "I congratulate our academicians who we are proud of their successful studies. Our faculty has raised pioneering names in many fields. Since the moment we took over the duty, we have been working in a team spirit to bring Selçuk University to the places it deserves. We are working day and night. Selçuk University, which has produced many universities, needs to be at a much higher level. We have no time to lose with vicious discussions. We need to make the best use of the time." 

"WE NEED TO CARRY THE FLAG WE TOOK OVER IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE"

Emphasizing that Selçuk University is the university of the society, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, "We need to carry the flag we have taken over in the best way so that those who will come after us will thank us. We are working for this. Selçuk University is a university that has a historical identity and carries out the Seljuk culture. We do not focus on ordinary studies. We want our university to be an institution of researchers who are locomotives in our region and country and who can conduct rare research. We want it to be the most powerful institution in its region. We have allocated 14 million TL for scientific research projects in the last year. We do not save on scientific research resources. We do not see the money transferred to scientific studies as lost. Academics who are alienated from society cannot give anything to this land. When we hand over the flag, we want to leave a debt-free, accountable university. We strive for the reconstruction of a strong Turkey by combining the university with reason and removing it from vicious debates." 

At the end of the program, certificates of achievement were presented to the academic staff and faculty members who ranked according to the criteria based on the number of patents, projects, articles, citations and the highest impact factor journal score in 2020. Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy presented the academic honor certificate to Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yılmaz, Faculty Member of the Department of Chemistry.
