Selçuk University Huğlu Vocational School, which trains qualified personnel needed by the defense and weapons industry, fills an important gap in the sector. Weapons produced with the best examples of university-industry cooperation met with enthusiasts at TEKNOFEST Izmir.

Selçuk University Huğlu Vocational School Deputy Director Lecturer Abdulbaki Ulusoy said, “Huğlu Vocational School continues education in 5 programs. Our aim is to demonstrate university-industry cooperation in the best possible way. We aim for our students to be sought-after personnel, not job seekers, when they graduate. In the application workshop we have established, the production of parts for existing weapons and R&D studies are carried out. Our students can participate in one-on-one activities on this subject. Our second-year students attend on-the-job training one day a week in the first semester and two days a week in the second semester in large companies with which we have an on-the-job program protocol. In this way, companies also get to know our students. We have joint work with 13 large enterprises in Huğlu, especially the Huğlu Hunting Rifles Cooperative."

Huğlu Hunting Rifles Cooperative Domestic Sales Representative Selçuk Demirel said, “Our Cooperative, which has been operating in the smoothbore shotgun group for more than a century, continues to produce rifled shotguns. R&D studies of our submachine gun and pistol groups continue. We will start production very soon. We export to 70 different countries. We provide internship opportunities to our students in the Weapons Industry Technician program and employment opportunities when they graduate. We receive support from students in the production of certain of our parts. Students who graduate from Huğlu Vocational School are in an experienced class."
