SU students organized 'International Medical Student Congress
The 5th National 2nd International Medical Student Congress organized by Selcuk University Avicenna Science Society has started. The opening of the congress, the subject of which was determined as "Emergency and Medical Disaster Management", was also attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy.
At the 5th National 2nd International Medical Student Congress held in Selçuklu Congress Center, after Congress President Kübra Kocabay and Avicenna Science Society President Mevlüt Örs, Selçuk University Vice Rector and academic advisor of the congress Prof. Dr. İlhan Çiftci said, “Our student friends showed great effort to repair the damage caused by the pandemic process. They prepared an international congress face to face. I would like to thank our friends who work to be beneficial to our national and moral values and our country. As the Avicenna Science Society, we act with the awareness that we must take science even in the farthest corners. We always spend our efforts in this direction.”
“WE ARE ALWAYS WITH OUR STUDENTS”
Stating that students from all over Turkey participated in the congress, Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Yavuz Selvi said, “We are happy and peaceful to work in the administration where our students are a priority. Having standard medical services is no longer enough. Social skills qualify as key skills. As Selcuk University Faculty of Medicine, we are always with our students in order to improve their social skills apart from standard education, apart from medicine, together with our student clubs.”
“WORKS DISCONNECTED FROM THE SOCIETY DO NOT MATCH”
Emphasizing that academics should combine their scientific studies with society, Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, on the other hand, said, “Works that are disconnected from society do not find a response. Scientists should work to keep social values in better places and to solve problems. We want Selçuk University to turn into a science base, a production center for science, in the heart of Anatolia. We are not in favor of a science that distances itself from its own values. We are a university that educates young people with national and spiritual values. In these lands where Anatolian yeast is stolen, the values that hold this yeast together are our most important values. We are trying to keep them alive. As we see the sensitivity of future scientists in this direction, we are happy to serve Selçuk University and we can see that the next generations will grow up well after us.”
“OUR STUDENTS ARE OUR PRIDE”
25th and 26th Term AK Party Konya Deputy and Presidency Health and Food Policy Board Member Dr. Hüsnüye Erdoğan said, “For two and a half years, we have experienced a problem that puts a heavy burden on our shoulders like a pandemic. I wish God's mercy on those who lost their lives in this process. I owe a debt of gratitude to healthcare workers. Our students are our pride. I congratulate you for organizing a national and international congress at this age. These congresses will open different doors for you in the future.”
After the opening speeches, it was time for the congress held by Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İlhan Çiftci who was the moderator of the session. Turkish Red Crescent President Dr. Kerem Kınık also connected to the congress via video and explained the activities carried out by the Red Crescent during the pandemic process.
