Selcuk University hosted Rwandan delegation
Scientists from the University of Rwanda, which offers Turkish education to its students, visited Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy. During the visit mediated by Yunus Emre Institute; student exchange programs, research and development projects and academic/technical cooperation were discussed.
Prof. Jean Claude Byiringo, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Prof. Umaru Garba Valı, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Anne Marie Kagwesage, Director of the Language Center of Excellence, Dr. Damien Hanyurwimim, Director of the African Center of Excellence and Internet of Things. Damien Hanyurwimfura, Director of African Center of Excellence and Internet of Things, Dr. Charles Ruranga, Director of Data Science Center; Enes Karaçoban, Rwanda Representative of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, Expert Bünyamin Demir and Assistant Expert Seyit Arif Sayın from the Directorate of Strategy Development and Corporate Communication visited Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy. Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken and Prof. Dr. İlhan Çiftci also accompanied the visit, which was mediated by Yunus Emre Institute, which continues its activities through 63 Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centers in 53 countries in order to spread Turkish language learning and promote Turkish culture and art abroad.
"WE WANT TO COME TO KONYA AGAIN"
During the visit, the academic and scientific background of Selçuk University, staff and student exchange programs, curriculum development, resource sharing, dual degree programs, joint research projects were discussed. Speaking at the visit, Head of the delegation and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the University of Rwanda Prof. Jean Claude Byiringo said, "We would like to come to Konya again for cooperation. We think we can make important contributions to each other. Trade relations between Turkey and Rwanda have started to increase especially in the recent period. Turkish investors are carrying out important projects in the field of construction and energy. There are institutions that we cooperate and sign protocols in the field of education. We made agreements with Turkey in 3 main areas. First, a general education agreement was signed. The second is the memorandum of understanding signed between YÖK and the Rwandan Ministry of National Education; the third is the education agreement signed in the field of scholarships."
"WE AIM TO MOVE OUR COUNTRIES TO BETTER PLACES"
Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said, "As Turkey, we are planning to bring our education system to better places with Africa. We hope that Turkish youth will do research in Africa in the future. Selçuk University is a well-established university with experience in many fields. Our cooperation with the University of Rwanda will aim to bring our countries to better places. Selçuk University, which is an example with its scientific studies, is conducting two different vaccine projects against the global pandemic that threatens all humanity. These projects are being prepared taking into account the variants that emerged later."
Afterwards, the delegation of Rwanda University, together with Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken, visited the Small Animal Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Experimental Medicine Research and Application Center, Advanced Technology Research and Application Center, and the application units within the Faculty of Agriculture and received information.
