12 students graduated from Selçuk University SFL Translation and Interpreting Department
There was graduation excitement at Selçuk University School of Foreign Languages. 12 students, who successfully completed their 4-year education in the Department of Translation and Interpreting, received their diplomas at a ceremony.
The graduation ceremony of Selçuk University School of Foreign Languages for the 2020-2021 academic year was held at Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center. Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. İlhan Çiftci, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Kamil Beşoluk, Director of the School Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kazım Ürün, academicians, students and their families attended the ceremony.
"DO NOT FALL INTO THE TRAP OF PESSIMISM AND EXCUSES"
Giving important messages to the graduating students in his speech, Acting Rector Prof. Dr. İlhan Çiftci said, "Today, you are young people who are responsible not only for yourselves and your families, but also for your country and the world. From now on, you will build your future in line with your achievements here. I believe that wherever you are, whatever you do, you will always defend right, justice, peace, love and respect. Whatever you do, you will try to do your best and be honest and moral individuals who are useful to others. Never forget this: honest, hardworking and productive people are always and everywhere valuable. Yes, life is sometimes difficult, but you should never fall into the trap of pessimism and excuses. On the contrary, be hopeful and optimistic. Never give up, don't run away from problems, be a fighter and make a difference in your work! Do your job well, avoid irregularities and injustice, and improve your morals. In the end, you will be the winner and the successful one. As you succeed, we will be happy and proud of you."

Stating that the devoted work of academicians has an important share in equipping graduating students with knowledge and experience, Prof. Dr. Çiftci said, "Our academicians, who are the architects of this beautiful picture, cannot be proud enough of our graduates, the fruits of your efforts. On behalf of our graduates and their parents, I would like to express my gratitude to all of you for your efforts. Dear parents, you can be proud of your children, whom you have cared for from the moment they came into the world, whom you have raised with great efforts and care. On behalf of our University, I would like to congratulate you, who have not withheld all kinds of material and moral support with great patience and tolerance in the realization of these days, and who have the biggest share in their success; I would like to thank you for raising such precious children."

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kazım Ürün, Director of the School of Foreign Languages, said, "The one who loves his homeland the most is the one who does his duty the best. In 4 years, you should definitely add new ones to the education you have received. Constantly improve yourself. It is very important to contribute to the development of our country. Prof. Dr. Onur Köksal, Head of the Department of Translation and Interpreting at the School of Foreign Languages, said: "We have English, Arabic, Chinese and Russian translation and interpreting departments within our department. Our students who complete their undergraduate education are the bright future of our country. You are the entrepreneurial youth of this country. I have no doubt that you will act with the awareness of representing Selçuk University wherever you go and in every institution you work."
Following the speech of Esra Kekeç, the valedictorian of the Department of Translation and Interpreting, the ceremony ended with the awarding of diplomas to the graduating students, the cap throwing ceremony and a photo shoot.
