'Aliya Izzetbegovic' panel at Selcuk University
"Aliya Izzetbegovic Panel and Photo Exhibition" was organized by Selçuk University (SU) and Anatolian Education, Culture and Science Foundation within the scope of "Events for Recognizing and Promoting Aliya Izzetbegovic".
The program at the SU Museum Building started with the opening of the exhibition consisting of 88 photographs of Aliya Izzetbegovic from different periods prepared by the Institute of Seljuk Studies.
In his speech at the opening of the panel, Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said that it is an important duty to remember Aliya İzzetbegovic and important names from the world of thought. Stating that they want to introduce names from the world of science and thought to future generations, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, "A society can survive and envision a civilization by returning to its core self, its core identity and rising through it. Aliya said 'When you become like your enemy, there is no point in fighting. Stay as you are. Protect your religion, your nationality. The price of losing your identity is slavery. As Selçuk University, we aim to convey to our students with their identity and culture how valuable it is to protect their own self and identity. We aim to raise them as individuals who will be leaders of the society and contribute to its civilization. This is through transferring Aliya and our leaders who have a place in our heart world to our youth. In order to re-understand our teacher Erol Güngör, we will increase the awareness and difference by bringing the Erol Güngör Symposium, which we plan to organize in the coming periods, and the ongoing studies together with this, hopefully with our students. In this context, I wish the panel to be instrumental for good."
Hayrullah Başer, President of Anadolu Education, Culture and Science Foundation, stated that Aliya İzzetbegovic was not a simple person and said, "We believe that we need to read and understand Aliya correctly. For this reason, we spread our events over 3 years. Hopefully, we want to spread these events in Anatolia so that our youth and people can understand him well. At least in our geography, Anatolia, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Middle East, Aliya should be understood correctly. Aliya is not only the guide and sage of Bosnians; Aliya is the sage of this geography, of all humanity."
"SYMBOL OF SERBIAN ATROCITIES; ARTEMISIAN FLOWER AND BLUE BUTTERFLY"
Following the opening speeches, students from the SU Dilek Sabancı State Conservatory performed a music concert. Afterwards, the panel discussion was moderated by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, SU Retired Faculty Member.
Prof. Dr. Hilmi Demir, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Research Institute of the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey, stated that great people come out of great geographies and that Aliya İzzetbegovic cannot be understood without knowing the Balkans.
Dr. Osman Arslan, Press Counselor of the Constitutional Court, shared the anecdote of "Artemis flower" and "Blue Butterfly", the symbol of Serbian atrocities in the discovery of mass graves in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and made a statement about Aliya's wisdom.
