Young physicians received their diplomas at Selcuk University

Selcuk University (SU) Faculty of Medicine 2021-2022 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony was held with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy and Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan. During the ceremony, 214 students experienced the joy of graduation.

Selcuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, at the ceremony held at the Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center, said that medicine is not only a profession, but also a sacred duty and responsibility. Expressing that medicine is a difficult profession that requires patience, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, “Turn away all the minds and approaches that aim to turn away from your nation with the back of your hand. Together we will build the future of our country. While educating our students as Selcuk University, we tried to raise Mevlana's tolerance, Seljuk's Turkish-Islamic ideal, and values and moral judgments that ferment Anatolia in Konya, which was the capital of the Seljuks. I believe that you will always abide by the ethical rules and approach your patients with compassion and empathy. I fully believe that you will not allow differences of religion, nationality, race and opinion to come between your profession and your patient by remaining true to your oath, and that you will definitely respect human life from the moment it is conceived.”

Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan stated that medicine is a sacred profession that improves people's quality of life. Noting that in recent years, important studies have been carried out to improve the physical infrastructure in the field of health services, Özkan said, “A certain infrastructure has emerged at the point of improving health services in terms of medical technological devices. I would like to express that our esteemed parents are the most important link in terms of training qualified young physicians and health workers and serving our society in the health sector. To be the soldiers of this sector means to receive the prayers and favor of the whole society.”

Selcuk University Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Yavuz Selvi said that they are proud of graduating young physicians from the faculty. Recommending an open-minded, respectful and prudent approach to developments, Prof. Dr. Selvi said, “Be prudent, think calmly, act right and in accordance with your conscience even if you are alone. Look at things from an empathic and human rights perspective, not a materialistic one.”

At the ceremony, Konya Medical Chamber President and Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Bahadır Öztürk also gave a speech.

After the speeches, the students were presented their diplomas. Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tuğrul Polat, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Kamil Beşoluk, Selcuk University Medical Faculty Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Mustafa Koplay, lecturers and families attended the ceremony.
