Young lawyers at Selcuk University had the joy of graduation

Selcuk University Faculty of Law 2021-2022 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony was held with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy. More than 550 students enjoyed graduation at the ceremony.

Selcuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, at the ceremony held at the Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center, said that he wholeheartedly believes that young lawyers will act in harmony with the values that the Turkish nation has developed throughout history, by observing the truth and justice under the guidance of conscience. "You are the grandchildren of a moral ancestor who ruled with justice throughout history, you have completed an important period in your life by graduating from Selçuk University, one of the strongest and dynamic universities in our country. From now on, while building your future in line with your achievements here, do not forget that you will first build the future of our country and perhaps humanity. You are the sons of a nation that adheres to a belief that says, 'Do not let your anger lead you to injustice'. For this reason, not for the strong to be right; You are obliged to always work for the righteous to be strong. You do not have the right and luxury to make mistakes, nor can they. Because the slightest mistake you make means someone else's loss of rights. As lawyers, you should be the shelter of the innocents and victims who have been wronged, and act with the motto 'Let people live so that the state can live'. Therefore, it is extremely important that you are well-trained judges, prosecutors and lawyers for the development of our country and the strengthening of our justice system. Work hard for this, constantly improve and renew yourself. In particular, follow the jurisprudence and doctrines that pertain to your profession closely and read them constantly.” he said.

Prof. Dr. Aksoy stated that as Selcuk University, they are among the few universities in Turkey and the world with their education quality. Explaining that they closely follow international change and transformation in this sense, Prof. Dr. Aksoy added that they raise students as individuals with Turkish-Islamic ideals and Turkish customs.

Head of the Private Law Department of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Haluk Hadi Sümer also stated that law is the most important element that enables people to live together, sustains societies and forms the basis of the state. Stating that the law serves the right, truth and justice, Sümer said, “The lawyer makes decisions by listening to the voice of his own conscience with his strong knowledge, without being influenced by anyone. He puts forth all his work to seek the truth, listens to all parties on the scales of justice without making any discrimination, and strives to reach fairness. As Selçuk University Faculty of Law, we aimed to provide our students with a quality education. However, we considered it our duty to ensure that the most fundamental values of the law, as the indispensable principles of justice, guide them in all areas of life.”

After the speeches, the students were presented their diplomas. Iğdır Deputy Yaşar Karadağ, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Kamil Beşoluk, faculty members and families attended the ceremony.
