WEATHER TRACKING SYSTEM DEVELOPED AT SU
The Weather Monitoring System, prepared under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Fatih Başçiftçi and accepted by the Scientific Research Projects Coordinatorship, provides access to meteorological data on the Alaeddin Keykubat Campus. In the Weather Monitoring System, weather measurements such as temperature, humidity, pressure, wind speed, wind direction, and amount of precipitation are made at regular intervals from the outdoor environment by means of sensors; images of the weather are also recorded. The data is analyzed and presented instantly on the "havadurumu.selcuk.edu.tr" website in an understandable way for users. Users can also download the mobile application of the project and easily access the weather information of the campus.
"UNIQUE AMONG UNIVERSITIES"
Stating that they started the work they developed as an infrastructure project in 2018 and completed it towards the end of 2020, Prof. Dr. Fatih Başçiftçi said, "Our university staff, students and everyone living in this region can benefit from the application and take necessary measures regarding the weather. In 2018, when we started the project, only a few universities had a similar system, but no mobile application or web page was actively working. It was standing idle. Currently, the only dynamically working system among all universities belongs to our University. Our data overlaps with the meteorology data by 99 percent. There is a one percent difference due to the elevation difference. I would like to thank our Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Şakir Taşdemir and our Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy for their support."
In the Weather Monitoring System Project, Selçuk University Faculty of Technology, Department of Computer Engineering, Assist. Assist. Erdem Ağbahca, Assist. Assist. Kübra Uyar, Assist. Assist. Züleyha Yılmaz Acar and Assist. Assist. Burak Tezcan also took part. The mobile application of the project was developed by Assist. Assist. Musa Doğan, Mücahit Sami Renkyorgancı and Bekir Can Yuva. The weather data of Selçuk University Alaaddin Keykubat Campus can be accessed at https://havadurumu.selcuk.edu.tr and the mobile application
