Selçuk University and Konya Provincial Mufti's Office organized a panel on "Hz. Mevlana and Spiritual Education" within the scope of "748th Vuslat Anniversary Commemoration Events of Hz. Mevlana".

The panel on "Hz. Mevlana and Spiritual Education" organized by Selçuk University Rectorate, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Mevlana Research Institute and Konya Provincial Mufti's Office within the scope of "748th Vuslat Anniversary Commemoration Events of Hz. Mevlana" was held at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences Conference Hall. Prof. Dr. Mithat Eser, Director of the Institute of Mevlana Studies, who made the opening speech of the panel after a moment of silence, the reading of the National Anthem and the recitation of the Holy Quran, stated that Hz. Mevlana is a name known all over the world and said, "Our Institute, which aims to reveal accurate and authentic information about Hz. Mevlana and Mevlevism, was established as a Research Center in 2005. In 2010, it became an institute and in 2012, it started to accept graduate students. It continues to carry out a function that offers authentic information to our people, away from daily conflicts of interest." 

"HZ. MEVLANA HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GUIDE FOR US TOO"

Emphasizing that Hz. Mevlana, who is known all over the world for his tolerance, humility and patience, has always been a source of pride for Konya and our country, Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy said, "Hz. Mevlana, who shed light on the present day with his ideas and teachings centuries ago, is also a very good educator. According to Hz. Mevlana, reason and education are closely related to each other. Hz. Mevlana has always been a guide for us. In our education, we should take great care for the construction and revitalization of future generations without abandoning the language of love. While doing all this, we have to constantly renew and improve ourselves. We must act with the awareness that education is not limited to mathematics and science, and that spiritual education is just as important. In this context, our Faculty of Islamic Sciences and Mevlana Research Institute have carried out important studies. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to the preparation of this meaningful program, hoping to live in a world where tolerance, humility and peace, which are the teachings of Hz. Mevlana, prevail." 

After the opening speeches, the panel on "Hz. Mevlana and Spiritual Education" started. Konya Provincial Mufti Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Öge said, "I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Rector of Selçuk University for his support for the projects we have implemented in the field of education. Hz. Mevlana told and taught people a lot with his vast horizons. Spiritual education, wisdom and Hz. Mevlana are our universal values that we cannot sacrifice to tabloid and popular culture. Hz. Mevlana, who was a madrasah scholar and transformed science into wisdom, life and social realities, touched human beings; he is a person who has touched the whole world." Prof. Dr. Ramazan Altıntaş, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Selçuk University, said, "I commemorate with mercy and gratitude Hz. Mevlana, who instilled hope in the society with his thoughts and lives and called Muslims to the spirit of unity at a time when the Islamic world was disintegrating in the social and intellectual field in the 13th century and Muslims lost hope for the future of Islamic civilization and Islamic culture." Sakarya University Faculty of Theology Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sezai Küçük said, "Hz. Mevlana starts with 'Listen' while addressing humanity. In our Sufi tradition, everything starts with hearing and listening. This is the education and learning model of the Islamic tradition. Hz. Mevlana wants to purify human beings and turn them into beautiful people. Hz. Mevlana wants people to be purified from arrogance, ego, hatred, backbiting, envy, mischief, and elements that can sabotage the understanding of brotherhood."
