A virtual laboratory was developed for occupational health and safety at Selçuk University
A virtual laboratory application was developed for occupational health and safety training under the consultancy of Selçuk University Faculty of Technology Lecturer, doctoral faculty member Selahattin Alan.
Scenarios are created depending on the content of occupational health and safety training with the virtual laboratory application developed within the scope of the master's thesis titled "Examination of the Effect of Virtual Reality Applications in Occupational Health and Safety Training", supervised by doctoral lecturer Selahattin Alan. It is ensured that these trainings, which must be given in workplaces, are effectively understood by employees. With the virtual laboratory, personnel can perceive and experience the factory environment just like in the real world before starting work. Thus, employees will gain experience in the virtual reality environment without being exposed to the risks and dangers they may encounter in real life.
MANY WORK ACCIDENTS CAN BE PREVENTED WITH OHS TRAINING
Virtual reality (VR) allows you to experience virtual worlds produced similar to real environments through appropriate equipment, used in many areas of life such as education, health, defense industry, tourism, marketing, archaeology, architecture, art and entertainment. Many work accidents can be prevented with effective occupational health and safety (OHS) training that can be given to employees. Although there are legal obligations binding on workplaces in this regard, the high rate of work accidents is still noteworthy because the training provided is not effective enough. According to data from the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), a work accident occurs every 15 seconds worldwide.
