A panel titled "Our Defense Industry and Materials Science" was held by Selçuk University Faculty of Technology.

Middle East Technical University Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department faculty member Prof. Dr. Ali Kalkanlı and Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Hasan Okuyucu gave information about the studies carried out in the fields of defense industry and materials science at the panel held at Selçuk University Museum Building.

Stating that every country is trying to develop its defense industry in order to provide a comfortable, spacious, safe and peaceful living space for its people and to protect them against threats, Okuyucu stated that countries that do not have the power to prevent attacks against their own people will not be able to achieve prosperity both economically and in terms of security. The reader said, "Ukraine and Palestine, which do not have the power to defend their own countries, cannot provide a safe living space for their people today. Russia and Israel, which are strong in terms of defense industry, can also challenge the whole world. In this context, countries act according to the necessity of having the ability to strike without being seen." said.

Explaining that invisibility technology can be applied in all military vehicles, especially aircraft, missiles, ships and submarines, Okuyucu said that absolute invisibility technology has not yet been achieved by material scientists and engineers, and that this aspect of material science is an open field to work on. Okuyucu said, "There are 8 major companies working on stealth technology. 3 of them are in the USA and have developed technology in this field. Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) is also working on this subject. Our national combat aircraft, KAAN, is also a fifth generation warplane." "It will be produced with invisibility technology. We expect it to fly as planned in December. I hope it will fly with the specified criteria.
