Medicine Day Ceremony held at Selcuk University

A ceremony was held at Selçuk University for March 14th Medical Day. In the ceremony attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, the academicians who received the highest score for their scientific studies and won awards for their projects were given plaques; faculty members who received the title of professor and associate professor in 2021 were given their robes.

Prof. Dr. Nadire Ünver Doğan, Acting Dean of Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine, made the opening speech of the March 14th Medical Day ceremony held at the Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center. Doğan said, "We strive to provide the best service to our state and nation with the responsibility placed on our shoulders by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who said 'entrust me to Turkish physicians'. We left our sick children at home and healed other children. Money has never been our goal. There can be no material equivalent for the prices we pay. Our motivation is the smile of a recovering child, the prayer of Aunt Ayşe, and Uncle Ahmet saying "God bless you".

"THE EFFORTS OF OUR PHYSICIANS ARE ALWAYS APPRECIATED"

Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy emphasized that the studies carried out in the field of health care have recently become much more important and said, "I have closely witnessed the efforts of our esteemed academicians in both treatment methods and vaccine studies since the first moment the coronavirus pandemic emerged. We cannot appreciate the effort and sacrifice you have shown enough. You always strive on the front line to provide the best health service. Your efforts and sacrifices are appreciated by everyone. Our nation stands with the efforts of our patriotic physician friends who work day and night. Our physician friends should be sure that the Turkish nation has never left any of its children alone and will protect them in the best way from now on."

"WE ARE ALWAYS WITH OUR PHYSICIANS"

Noting that a good physician is not only a person who fulfills the requirements of the medical profession in a technical and scientific sense, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said: "A good physician is also a physician who attaches importance to the ethical values that are sacred for this profession, knows how to approach his/her patients with these values, and performs his/her profession with a scientific and contemporary understanding of responsibility. Turkish physicians have never been oppressed in any field. They cannot be oppressed by any element in the future either. With the arrangements made in the field of health in our country, successes that will set an example for the whole world are now being achieved. We know that achieving these successes is not something that can happen overnight. It was achieved through long training processes, dedication and effort, and the creation of the necessary infrastructure. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to these processes. I would like to state that I never approve of the slightest violence against our valuable physicians and healthcare professionals who work day and night for public health and I am always with you."

At the end of the program, plaques were given to the academicians who received the highest scores with their scientific studies and won awards with their projects; faculty members who received the title of professor and associate professor in 2021 were given their robes.
