'Information Meeting for International Students' at Selçuk University
Selçuk University (SU) International Migration and Diaspora Application and Research Center hosted the "Information Meeting for International Students" organized by Konya Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
Selçuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken said at the meeting held at the Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center that the institutions carried out studies on the adaptation of international students to Turkey and university life. Stating that the Governorship of Konya has also taken important steps in this context, Prof. Dr. Eken said, "As in many issues, coordination was established under the leadership of the Governorship of Konya. The decisions resulting from this coordination are shared with you. In our meeting, you will be informed about the opportunities, advantages and disadvantages of Konya. We grew up in these lands with the belief that people who migrated to our country due to different factors should also have access to education, health and social opportunities and be equal to us in terms of human rights. We are individuals of such a civilization. Anatolian lands have such a perspective. You have come to our country for noble purposes. We have no doubt that you will perform the knowledge, manners, experience, academic accumulation and professional equipment you have acquired here in the best way in Turkey or in your own country. We are constantly thinking and developing strategies so that you can benefit from all the opportunities in Konya and our country at the highest level. We also have application and research centers in this regard. We are constantly working for you in our centers."
Provincial Director of Migration Management Zeki Afşin Buzcu also stated that the number of international students has increased significantly in recent years. Explaining that Turkey hosts approximately 185 thousand students, Buzcu said that he believes that international students will add value to both Turkey and their own countries as well as being ambassadors of the heart.
Following the speeches, Saliha Ötügen, Head of the Harmonization and Communication Working Group, and Müdahir Çelik, Head of the Residence Working Group, made presentations to the students on residence permits, international protection and temporary protection statuses, rights and obligations in Turkey.
