Dean Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Haliloğlu made the opening speech of the program titled "179th Anniversary of Veterinary Medicine Education and Training in our country" organized by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Stating that veterinary medicine is an exceptional profession that provides great services in the field of preventive medicine and breeding in the protection of human health, food safety, environmental protection, preventive medicine and breeding as well as clinical treatment of animals, Prof. Dr. Haliloğlu said, "Selçuk University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is among the strong faculties of both our University and our country by developing day by day since its establishment. Our goal is to crown our anniversary in 2022, the 180th anniversary of veterinary medicine education and the 40th anniversary of the establishment of our faculty, with the identity of an internationally accredited faculty."

"NEVER GIVE UP THE PRINCIPLE OF LIFELONG LEARNING"

Selçuk University Secretary General Prof. Dr. Kamil Beşoluk, who gave important messages to the students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, said: "When you graduate in your white coats, help our silent friends who try to communicate with you only with their looks and behaviors. It is necessary to be transparent while practicing the profession of medicine. Veterinary medicine is not only a profession but also a lifestyle. The communication you will establish with animals and the pleasure you will get when you treat them are too important to be measured in money. It is necessary to empathize while communicating with patient owners. Never give up the principle of lifelong learning. Keep your communication channels open at all times. Do not turn down the opportunities extended to you in order to take your profession one step further."

The program ended with the presentations titled "Pandemics and Preventive Medicine" by Prof. Dr. Osman Erganiş, Head of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Selçuk University, and "New Concepts in Veterinary Medicine" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökhan Aslım, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, followed by the presentation of representative veterinarian gowns to the students who graduated from the Faculty.
