Important project for autistic people from Selçuk University

Supervised by Selçuk University Faculty of Technology Lecturer Dr. Hakan Terzioğlu, Şahin Gürkan Bişkin, a graduate of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, developed a project that will make the lives of individuals with autism easier. With the web application, information about the medications used by individuals with autism, the doctors they visited, their likes, dislikes and the movements that disturb them can be accessed with the approval of their families.

Selçuk University Faculty of Technology LecturerDr.Hakan Terzioğlu said, “We prepared our project in order to make the lives of individuals with autism easier, to touch the lives of their families, and to alleviate the problems they experience, at least to some extent. There is no known definitive drug treatment for individuals with autism. We know that the most important method of struggle is special education. The amount of special education lessons they need to receive weekly is at least 10 - 20 hours. We have created a mobile application for special education purposes that will support this education, increase the duration of special education, and enable the training provided to continue at home. Thanks to this application, individuals with autism will be able to recognize elements such as concepts, numbers, colors and animals. We prepared the web application in order to ensure that the person who will care for the autistic individual has an idea about his/her characteristics when there is a situation where autistic individuals need to be cared for by others outside their families, when they move to another school, when their teachers change, or when there is a health problem in their family."

Şahin Bişkin, a graduate of Selçuk University Faculty of Technology, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, said “Our project is a mobile application that will contribute to the education of individuals in need of special education and will relieve their family members. The application has sections where data can be tracked and profile pages where each person's data can be stored. In this way, information about the medications used by the individual in need of special education, her/his reactions, and her/his favorite foods are stored.”

Supervised by Faculty of Technology Lecturer Dr. Hakan Terzioğlu, Special MYS Selçuk Team became a finalist by taking part in the top 10 projects in the TEKNOFEST Barrier-Free Life Technologies Pre-Incubation category with the project they prepared.
