According to the "Field-Based Competence Analysis of Universities" 2023 report, which comparatively evaluates the performances of universities on the basis of research fields by TÜBİTAK, Selçuk University (SU) ranks in 19 main research fields and 106 sub-research fields. In the report, where high volume and high quality are classified as the 1st region, it was determined that Selçuk University ranks high in the results of competence analysis in 11 main research areas.

Selçuk University is in the 1st region in all sub-fields in Chemistry (Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy, Electrochemistry, Physical Chemistry and Theoretical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry) and Chemical Engineering (Fluid Dynamics and Heat/Mass Transfer, Bioengineering, Filtration and Separation, Catalysis, Process Chemistry and Technology).

Apart from these main research areas, Selçuk University offers Information and Communication Technologies (Electronic Hardware Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology (Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology), Physics (Atomic, Molecular Physics and Optics), Food. , Agriculture and Livestock (Horticulture; Nutrition, Dietetics and Health; Food Safety, Hygiene and Sanitation; Food Processing and Production Technologies; Animal Nutrition, Animal Breeding and Breeding Diseases; Field Crops), Machinery-Manufacturing (Machine Design and Manufacturing), A total of 30 studies are also mentioned in the fields of Material Sciences (Ceramics and Composites), Forestry (Forestry), Automotive (Internal Combustion Engine and Engine Drivetrain, Material Technologies in the Automotive Sector), Health (Embryology, Immunology, Rheumatology, Neuroscience and Brain Research, Urology). In the competence analysis, which was carried out on the basis of volume and quality indicators, quality indicators have a weight of 60% and volume indicators have a weight of 40%. In the study, 7 quality indicators with a total weight of 60% were included. In addition, 21 main research areas and 132 sub-research areas were identified.
