The "International Comparative Law Symposium", of which Selçuk University was a stakeholder, has ended. The symposium brought together lawyers, scientists, students and law critics.

"International Comparative Law Symposium", organized by Selçuk University, Academic Platform and the Association for the Rule of Law, supported by Konya Metropolitan Municipality and prepared with the theme of "Seeking Solutions to Current Legal Issues", was held at Mevlana Cultural Center.

Delivering the opening speech of the symposium, President of the Rule of Law Association, Av. Yaşar Cumhur said, "There was a very intense participation to the symposium. Our professors had difficulty in selecting the papers. We received very high quality papers."

Prof. Dr. Remzi Gören, Chairman of the Symposium, said: "Why not establish an International Law University in Turkey? This place can turn into a format where we can write the prescription for the salvation of all humanity. We would be serving such a good deed."

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Ercan Uslu said, "We have been trying to take steps towards a Red Apple target for about 11 - 12 years about the university mentioned by Prof. Dr. Remzi Gören. We have a university dream and a Red Apple in Konya. We have come a long way."

Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Rector of Selçuk University, said: "Our country has made great progress in terms of the judiciary, especially with the reforms made in the last two decades. However, we should not forget that the best can always be better, and we should not allow the level reached to lead us to complacency. We should also keep in mind that the standards in terms of both the rule of law and the rule of law can always be raised and we should never stop working towards this end. In this respect, I find events such as today's symposium extremely important in terms of deepening discussions and exploring new horizons. As the rector of a University that hosts a Faculty of Law that has produced a Minister of Justice, I would like to express my pride in the work of our Faculty and its reputation in our country."

27th Term AK Party Konya Deputy Ahmet Sorgun said, "The situation of the Islamic world is obvious. We need to look at ourselves first. We cannot expect help from the oppressor. An arsonist is not a fireman."

Marmara University Lecturer. Speaking at the symposium moderated by Prof. Dr. Murat Şimşek, Medipol University Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akif Aydın said, "It cannot be said that Jews have been mistreated in the Islamic world throughout history. We still expect mercy from the West. We expect respect for right and law. It is not possible to expect justice from the oppressor. The oppressed must be more careful and stronger. I think that it will not be possible for Islam to maintain its existence as a religion and a set of values for a long time unless a law based on Islamic values and responding to the needs of the day is put forward. We have to know that leaving Islamic law on dusty shelves as a historical heritage poses a great danger to the Islamic religion and values. I would like to express my gratitude to Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy and Konya Metropolitan Municipality for contributing to the symposium."

70 papers were presented in the symposium held in 15 sessions.
