SU matched with 7 fields in 'Higher Education Research Oriented Specialization Project'

Selçuk University (SU) was matched with 7 sub-fields in the sectors of "chemistry", "machinery-electrical equipment" and "food supply security" at the meeting held within the scope of the "Higher Education Council (YÖK) Research-Oriented Specialization Project" under the chairmanship of Higher Education Council (YÖK) President Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç.

In the meeting attended by Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Rector of Selçuk University and Rectors of Research and Candidate Research Universities, the decisions taken as a result of the studies carried out by YÖK on "matching research universities with priority sectors according to their competencies in the 11th Development Plan" were shared with the public. The activities to be carried out within the framework of the project were also discussed at the meeting.

                       16 UNIVERSITIES PARTICIPATED IN THE MEETING

The meeting, hosted by Istanbul Technical University, was attended by YÖK President Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç, as well as the rectors of a total of 16 universities, including 11 research and 5 candidate research universities, the relevant vice-rectors, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal and YÖK officials. Within the scope of the project, sector and field preferences were received from university rectors before matching. TUBITAK then conducted a "competency analysis of universities on the basis of fields" and made sector and sub-field matching.

            PRIORITY SECTOR AND SUB-AREA MATCHING OF SELÇUK UNIVERSITY

At the meeting, the matching of Research and Candidate Research Universities with the priority sectors and sub-fields in the 11th Development Plan was announced. Within this framework, Selçuk University will work in 3 priority sectors (7 sub-fields).

Selcuk University, which has the status of Candidate Research University, has been matched with the sub-fields of "analytical chemistry", "electrochemistry" and "process chemistry and technology" in the chemistry sector. Selçuk University, which is aimed to carry out studies in the sub-field of "factory automation systems" in the machinery-electrical equipment sector, was also matched with the sub-fields of "food safety", "food processing" and "field crops" in the food supply security sector.
