Industrial Design Students Visit Alzheimer Day Living Center
Within the scope of the "Volunteering Studies" course led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Seda Duman, students from the Department of Industrial Design paid a meaningful visit to the Alzheimer’s Association of Turkey Elderly Care-Education Practice and Alzheimer Day Living Center on March 2, 2026. The students presented handmade flowers -which they had collectively prepared during their coursework- to the elderly individuals at the center and engaged in various one-on-one activities throughout the visit. Together, they sang nostalgic songs accompanied by instruments designed from everyday materials.
This meeting fostered intergenerational solidarity while providing emotional and enjoyable moments for all participants.
Being the first and only facility serving in this field in Konya, the center aims to support the social, psychological, and physical needs of Alzheimer's patients, preserve their daily living skills, and provide support to their families. This event aimed to contribute to the development of students' empathy, social responsibility, and awareness of volunteering.
We would like to thank our participating students and the center officials for their hospitality.
