About the 3rd Nutrition and Metabolism Symposium
The “3rd Nutrition and Metabolism Symposium”, which will be jointly organized by Konya Selçuk University and the Istanbul Branch of the Turkish Biochemistry Association, will be held between May 14-16, 2025.
This year, the symposium, which will be hosted by Selçuk University for the third time, will be a comprehensive scientific event covering current developments and multidisciplinary approaches in the fields of nutrition and metabolism. Unlike previous years, this year we will also have a half-day course program titled “General Approach to Inherited Metabolic Diseases” to be held on May 14. The course will cover important topics such as clinical perspectives on inherited metabolic diseases, biochemical indicators and nutritional therapy.
The opening speech of the symposium will be given by the President of the “International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine” Prof. Dr. Tomris Özben, and the first session will feature Prof. Dr. Osman Müftüoğlu and Prof. Dr. Figen Gürdöl will be our honorary guest. During the symposium, where participants will have the opportunity to closely follow scientific developments and participate in interactive discussions, and where expert scientists in the field will share current scientific data, many important topics will be discussed, such as new approaches to long and healthy life, the effects of epigenetic and nutrigenetic mechanisms on the aging process, the relationship between gut microbiota and metabolic health, the place of cellular therapies in the biology of aging, their connections with neuronutrition and neurodegenerative diseases, current nutritional treatments for inherited metabolic diseases, the effects of food intolerances and allergies on metabolism, additives and metabolic processes, sweeteners, hidden sugar and chronic inflammation, the current adequacy of plant-based nutrition and the role of sustainable nutritional choices on metabolic health.
Valuable academicians, assistants and students who will participate in the symposium with oral presentations and poster presentations will also enrich our meeting. As in previous years, presentations and papers will be published in the supplementary issue of the Turkish Journal of Biochemistry indexed in the ‘Science Citation Index-Expanded’ (SCI-E).
We hope that the symposium will provide important opportunities to learn current scientific data in the field of metabolism and nutritional sciences, interact with expert speakers, discover new approaches used in clinical practice and exchange ideas.
