Selcuk University hosts international congresses
The International Congress of the Effects of Climate Change on Health, Life, Engineering and Social Sciences (ICLIC 2022) and the International Congress of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences (ENAG 2022), hosted by Selçuk University. Sessions, technical conferences and oral presentations on climate change and agricultural sciences will be held at the congresses, which will be attended by scientists from Turkey and abroad and will end on September 30.

Özkan Sivritepe, Pakistan Multan University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Asif Ali, Dean of Selçuk University Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Zeki Bayramoğlu, many national and international scientists, lecturers and students attended.
Congress President, Selcuk University Agriculture and Climate Changes Application and Research Center Director Prof. Dr. Kubilay Kurtuluş Baştaş, in his speech at the opening of the program, said that the climate change crisis has become an issue that needs to be addressed with all branches of science and sectors. Stating that they organized a multidisciplinary program that brings together the branches of health, science, engineering and social sciences in this respect, Baştaş said, “With our congress, we aimed to bring together different disciplines and sectors, to identify current scientific studies and the problems faced by the sectors and to be encountered in the future. At the same time, we aimed to lay the foundations for future work, projects and concrete products to emerge.” said.
MÜSİAD Konya Branch President Hilmi Kağnıcı made a statement about the work they started to make Konya a carbon neutral city by 2042. Stating that they determined the project as a 5-stage plan, Kağnıcı said, “In this model, we need the academic world, business world and political support very seriously. This is a sensitive issue that we can all achieve only by coming together. A great danger is coming and we are slowly realizing it.”
Selcuk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tuğrul Polat also stated that climate change is the biggest threat to global health in the 21st century, according to the World Health Organization data. Noting that the efficient use of energy resources such as sun, wind and waves has increased, especially in the last 20 years, in the field of technology and engineering, Prof. Dr. Polat said, “Electric and hybrid vehicles have gone beyond just being interesting technology objects that we see in competitions and have become commercialized and now appear on the roads. When we look at the field of politics, environment and climate have become part of political debates almost everywhere in the world today. Parties that prioritize the environment and climate policies have been established in many countries, and they have a significant supporter base, especially in Europe.” used the phrases.
Prof. Dr. Polat stated that as Selcuk University, they show an environmentally sensitive approach and they carry out studies on renewable energy sources. In this context, he added that they have reached a certain stage in terms of solar energy systems and wastewater treatment plants.
