Commemoration program for folk singer Neşet Ertaş at Selçuk University

Selçuk University (SU) Faculty of Tourism organized a commemoration program on the 10th anniversary of the death of folk minstrel Neşet Ertaş, known as the "Plectrum of the Steppe", who performed folk songs from tradition with his unique style.

Brigadier,Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy,  Rector of Selcuk University, Prof. Dr. Emrullah Eken, Vice Rektor Prof. Dr. İlhan Çiftci,Vice Rektor, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tuğrul Polat,Vice Rector  Prof. Dr. Kamil Beşoluk, Secretary General, Prof. Dr. Onur Köksal, Dean of SU Faculty of Tourism , Ersan Aydın, Selçuklu District Police Chief Ersan Aydın, Güzide Çıpan MHP MYK Member, faculty members and students attended the program organized at SU Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center.

The program started with a documentary about the life of Neşet Ertaş. Then the protocol speeches were made. Prof. Dr. Onur Köksal Dean of the Faculty of Tourism  thanked Rector Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy for his support in organizing the program and Kırşehir Municipality for their contributions. "Neşet Ertaş means heart and wailing." Köksal said that Ertaş is an important value that should not be forgotten.

Prof. Dr. Metin Aksoy, Rector of Selçuk University, stated they came together to commemorate the master of music on a meaningful day  and said, "We can see that the people who are cherished by the society, and have a long-lasting place in the society, are those who understand the society well and do not break away from the bosom of the society. He understood and explained the society very well. Today, although many years have passed, he is still listened to with great appreciation and excitement; he continues to be understood. In that sense, his life is very valuable as a road map for us. We are all children of the steppe. We are all lovers of Neşet Ertaş. We are excited for the master artist to meet young people, and him to be understood."

After the speeches, Neşet Ertaş and Muharrem Ertaş's Father-Son Quarrel and Neşet Ertaş Documentary were watched. In the program, where the video of the students' opinions about the folk minstrel was watched, members of the Kırşehir Abdallar Ensemble, formed by Ertaş's relatives, performed the artist's popular works. Prof. Dr. Onur Köksal , Dean of faculty of tourism, also sang a folk song he composed for Neşet Ertaş.

The program ended with the presentation of gifts.
